When will then be now? Soon!
Feb 20, 2023
Remember the line from Spaceballs—“When will then be now?” The answer was: “Soon.”
Life is an incredible gift. One of the simplest descriptions of a person’s life is the distance between the cradle and the grave, a journey filled with days, months, years, and decades.
However, we never truly know where we are on that line. When I was about three years old, my older brother Nathan was killed in a tragic accident. The distance between his cradle and his grave was only eight years. That was over 50 years ago for me, and it serves as a powerful reminder of life's fragility.
So, how do we make the most of the time and life we have left, understanding that the only time we really have is now? Imagine spending the rest of your days doing what is truly important to you, with the people who mean the most to you.
This week’s assignment is simple yet profound: write the following question on sticky notes and place them everywhere—your computer screen, your mirror, beside your bed: Is what I’m doing right now truly important to me?
In today’s world, almost everything else can be automated, delegated, or eliminated. By learning to focus on what really matters, you will take a significant step towards making the most of the life you’ve been given.
That is ultimately what Lifeonomics is all about: living intentionally and embracing the present.
Take Action:
1. Write the question on sticky notes: Is what I’m doing right now truly important to me?
2. Place these notes where you will see them throughout the day.
3. Reflect on your daily activities and align them with what truly matters to you.
By consistently redirecting your focus to what is truly important, you can create a meaningful and fulfilling life.
Embrace the present, and make every moment count.
